What She Thought

She called.  She went down to the bar but he wasn’t there.  Someone said he was home with his family.  Family.  She didn’t think he had one – wife, kids.  She didn’t ask.  He never wore a ring.  Their attraction for each other two months ago was immediate.  At the time she thought ‘This is what I’ve been waiting for.’  All my life.  Romantically, for her, things up until that point were starving desert.  She would sip her coffee, drink her wine, wonder ‘Where are all the men?’  Just then he, clad in leather jacket, boots, passed by her window, smiled.
